Our Love
Story
It all began at Dreamweek, our church conference in Bloemfontein, in October 2022. Michaela and her friend weren’t too keen on driving back with the student bus, and as it turned out, Jason had two extra seats in his car. On the way home, Michaela’s friend and Jason’s friend quickly fell asleep, leaving the two of us with no choice but to make small talk. That simple road trip became the spark of something we never saw coming.
Soon after, the “small talk” turned into lots of messages, voice notes, and shared worship songs. Until one day, Jason finally asked Michaela what she was doing on Saturday, 22 October 2022. Michaela, never one to settle for just a coffee date, challenged him to step it up. And he did — with pizza, Coke Zero, and a drive to Kogel Bay. Watching the sunset in the back of his car, four hours felt like ten minutes. It didn’t take long to know this was the start of something special.
Three months, countless long drives, and many memorable dates later, Jason asked Michaela to be his girlfriend — right there at the very spot of their first date. From then on, life together has been nothing short of the best adventure. More than anything, we’ve loved seeing how God has moved in us, through us, and around us. Keeping Him at the centre has been our greatest joy and our deepest anchor.
Fast forward to the proposal — or what Michaela thought was Jason’s “work function” in Rooiels. Dressed for cocktail hour, she had no idea what was waiting just around the corner. Jason pulled over to a picture-perfect setup: petals on the ground, champagne, glowing J&M lights, and a sign that read: “Michaela, will you marry me?” Overlooking Kogel Bay — the very place where it all began — God’s faithfulness came full circle. And of course, Michaela said YES!
This has been our favourite story to live out — one filled with joy, laughter, and so much grace. With hearts full of gratitude and excitement, we cannot wait to step into this new chapter together and see what God has in store next.

When should I RSVP by?
If you could RSVP as soon as possible that would be amazing, however the latest would be 1 December 2025.
Can I bring a date?
Unless your invite stated they’re invited, unfortunately not.
What will the weather be like?

Will there be an open bar?
A cash bar will be available, so bring your best moves and a little cash!
What should I wear?
We’d love for our guests to join us in black-tie style- tuxedos or suits with a tie for men, and elegant floor-length or maxi gowns for women.
Think of the sunset sky - from golden yellows & oranges to pinks & purples.
Are kids welcome?
As much as we love all the kiddies, unfortunately not for this occasion.
Can I take pictures during the ceremony?
We kindly ask that you put your phones and cameras away. We’ve hired a professional photographer to capture every special moment for us.
